In Path of Exile, support gems are an item class used to augment active skill gems. They are socketed in the same way as active skill gems, with the difference that they do not give access to another active skill, poe exalted orb is important for you.
Instead, they modify any active skill gems in sockets linked to the support gem, while also typically increasing the mana cost of the skill. The modifications vary based on both the active skill being altered and the support gem, and certain skill gem – support gem combinations will leave the skill unmodified.
Recently, I have an idea about white support gems. White support gems: can be placed in any colored socket, the basic Meta is to turn skills up-side-down/inverting or hyper-focusing, or else. Changing the skill. Improving, removing, adding. This -vs- GGG’s recent skill revamp post and the discussion and the things TarkeCat brought up or phox.
I am not against “skill revamp.” There could be also a ‘third way’, next to the skill revamp.
Idea 1: “Tick Locket” with each level: increased Critical Strike Damage, decreased Non-Critical Strike damage, reduced attack or cast speed (each quality level, this is reduced very slightly).
Idea 2: “Cast Away” (I don’t know if this is a TM, the movie). Channeling AOE skills deal more damage far away from the player than closer to the player. Increased AOE. eg for Lightning Tendrils.
Idea 3: “Converted”. Skills ailments mechanics are converted to added damage.
Idea 4: “Escapist”. Skills ailments mechanics are buffed and damage is reduced.
You could change Lightning Tendrils to exactly that: increase the AOE and change the mechanic that more damage is deal far away from the player than closer to the player plus the ailment of shock chance (slow the enemy).
